Black Pepper Guide Revised

(Revised edition will be published soon)

About the book

In recent years, pepper economy has been plagued by sharp decline in prices due to oversupply situation in the global market,  leading to a drastic fall in export earnings and farmers income.  Newly emerging pepper producing countries gained competitive edge over the traditional producers through high productivity and low cost of production.  Other challenges facing the pepper industry are the reality of free trade between producing countries and the increasingly stringent quality requirements imposed by consuming countries on import of pepper and pepper products and the slow pace in product development. All these have an impact on Indian pepper economy.

Productivity increase and lower unit cost of production are essential to maintain and regain Indian prominence in the world trade for black pepper.  This involves the spreading of the high production technologies evolved at the research stations among the growers at the grass root level.

The revised edition of Black Pepper Guide contains highlights of research on all aspects of the crop production, postharvest technologies, quality maintenance and marketing in brief. The book would be quite useful to Researchers, Extension Workers, Traders and the farming community.
